Randoms from the Weekend

Just some randoms from the weekend....

When did this happen?  Libby is wearing a 3-6 mos Gymboree sleeper from Kalli's mom.  When I first saw it, I thought - it will be perfect for October!  So glad I happened to pull it out and notice that it no longer looked HUGE to me!  When did this girl grow so much??

Oh Libby - there is so much love for you in this family, and your big sister is no exception.  She just can't wait to get her hands on you and holding you just makes her day!!  I hope you continue to be the patient little thing that you are, because right now you are so sweet to sit in her lap contently - sometimes when you are at your wit's end with me even, you will calm down with a few minutes in sissy's lap.

We didn't make it to church this weekend, and instead went to visit Gamommy and PawPaw.  Mer had not seen her in two weeks because of her surgery (on Aug. 2nd).  I think it brought Gamommy to tears a little bit to finally see Mer again.  Mer prays for Gamommy's "shoulder" every night.

This is real life, people, but I think it's just our future until Libby Kate can be bribed with chocolate chips as well :)

Sweet Angel Baby

Whew, it was an exhausting morning!  I had Libby Kate's 2 month check up (and immunizations) this morning, and Mer had Around the World day at school.  She was dressed as a girl from Hawaii.

While trying to get out the door this morning I told Mer we needed to hurry because I was going to be late getting Libby to her doctor's appointment. Mer asked if they were going to give Libby Kate a shot and I said yes, and she started bawling!  "Nooo, I don't want them to hurt my sweet angel baby!!"  She was SO upset and crying real tears for her baby sister.  Before getting in to school, she said a prayer that Libby Kate would be ok and feel better.  I am just in love with what a great big sister she is and find it so sweet that she always calls Libby her "sweet angel baby."

Libby weighed 12 lbs, 10 oz at her appointment today and was 23.5 inches long.  For comparison, Mer was 11 lbs, 2 oz and 22.25 inches long at her 2 mos appointment.  We were about two weeks late on this one, but I think Libby is still a little bigger than Mer was.

I am always nervous about reactions to the immunizations with the girls, but Libby received all three injections recommended and the oral rotavirus vaccine and has done alright so far.  She is snuggled up asleep on me right now, and I'm just praying she doesn't run a fever.  I tried to give her Tylenol before she went to sleep, but of the half teaspoon dose, I'm positive she couldn't have swallowed even half of it...you know, just based on the red stains all over her hands, face, and burp rag  :)

108

Today, it was 108 degrees outside....108.  That is just gross (and apparently record breaking)!  We don't even attempt to leave the house on days like this.  When we have to get out, everyone is sweaty and fussy and it's just not fun for anybody.  Instead, we stay curled up in our cave, make huge messes in the house, have dance parties in the living room, change clothes a million times (I swear I need a lock for her closet!!)make silly faces, and just PLAY all day.

Mer added some flair to Libby Kate's activity gym.  Libby Kate really liked it, too!  She laid there forever just looking at the pink and purple boa Mer had draped across the top of it.

Sweet baby girl!

Gracie Belle decided to jump in front of the camera just as I was taking Libby Kate's picture.

Meredith is getting a serious head of hair!  For the baby girl that was bald for so long, she has really grown some beautiful "Tangled" hair as she calls it!

This child of mine...oh my.  She has SO much coordination, walked super early, and can dance like no other...but she is SO clumsy!  Today she was "ass skating" (ice skating) on the tile, with two sheets of laminated paper (just typing that makes me think, duh, I should have stopped her right there) and she somehow fell flat on her NOSE.  Literally on her nose!  Where were her hands to catch her?!?  We kept a cold pack on it and all was fine, but at one point she goes to put the cold pack back in the freezer because it was no longer cold, and turns around and trips over her riding toy and falls again!  She literally turned around and walked right into it, gets up and says "I'm ok, Mommy!  I'm ok!"

She thought it was fun to make silly faces for the camera...

This is her "don't smile" face...trying so hard...

and she just couldn't keep it in any longer!!

She makes me laugh!

So many expressions!

One of my favorite faces of hers!

And of course Gracie Belle had to join in on the silly faces!  Look at that tongue hangin' out and those crazy blue eyes!!

Mer ended the 108 degree day just right - with an ice cream sandwich and a cool bath.  Oh summer time, I have a love hate relationship with you....love the laid back feel, but hate not being able to get outside to play!

Libby Kate is 10 Weeks old

This sweet girl is 10 weeks old today!  Like always, she's just a happy, sweet, content little thing!  This week she showed us she can roll from her back to her tummy - I woke up and saw her grunting and struggling in the pack 'n play beside me, and told Brian, "I think she's going to make it to her tummy this time..." and then there she went!

A little comparison with Mer Mer at 10 weeks - I think Libby Kate is a little a bigger...we'll find out Friday when she goes for her 2 month check up (and immunizations - boo!!)

She had a crazy night of sleep one night this week - at 4:30am, I was just tired and thought I'd just set her down, swaddle her (she was wide awake) and crawl back in bed until she fussed.  I listened to her squirm and wiggle for a good 45 minutes, and then it got very quiet.  I checked on her and she had gone to sleep - on her own!  That NEVER happened with Meredith!  I swaddled her up and went to bed!

Sweet Sisters

I love my babies freshly bathed.  The smell of strawberry shampoo and oatmeal baby wash are scents that will always remind me of this summer!  Mer just loves holding her baby sister and loving on her.  Tonight, she wanted to give Libby Kate a hug goodnight, and when she did, Libby's arm went behind Mer's neck..."Mommy!  Look!  She's hugging me!" she was SO excited.  She ran out of the room to find Brian, too..."Daddy!  Come here for a second!  Just come look for a second!" and she showed him how her baby sister "hugged" her.  It was beyond precious.

As Brian was taking this picture, she tells me, in her most serious voice, "Mommy, I not squishing the baby, because I'm a big girl and I don't squish babies."  Not so sure Libby Kate agrees, but ok :)

Career Day

Mer had Career Day this week.  She was adament that she wanted to be a ballerina bunny and I just couldn't let her.  For some reason that screamed Playboy to me!  Instead, I talked her into being an accountant!!  Do you know how HARD it is to make an accountant sound cool to a 3 year old?  At least she had her trusty calculator to make it more fun.  She was convinced it was a phone, and I wasn't going to argue...as long as she went to school smiling (she didn't) I didn't care what she called it!  She told her teachers she was a number counter.  We tried to teacher her "Certified Public Accountant" the night before, but when we heard what actually came out...Superfly Pubic Counter...I let it go!!

She looks happy enough, right?  I'm sure it has nothing to do with me promising her a chocolate chip (at 8:30am) if she'd just smile for me!  Ha!

Gamommy Time

Gamommy stopped by on her lunch break to get some Libby Kate lovin' in.

Sweet sleeping baby girl - just in love with her!

Libby Kate is One Week Old

Libby Kate is one week old.  This first week has been exhausting, but only because of getting up every 2.5-3 hours to feed her.  She has been a sweet, content, easy baby.  She rarely fusses, and just seems happy all the time!

I love, love, LOVE those wrinkled knees!  Ha!  I am sure they will fill out and become rolls in no time (which I will love just as much!) but only newborns get those cute little wrinkles like that, and I just adore them while they last.

Poor baby struggles with going cross eyed...a LOT.

Splish Splash, it's Time for a Bath!

Libby Kate lost her belly button thingy, so it was time for a fresh bath!

With Meredith, I remember being terrified of her first bath - nothing scared me more than slippery, wet babies!  I still get uneasy about a slippery baby, but this time wasn't so bad.

She just kept looking in the mirror the whole time.  Never fussed or seemed upset, was just looking in the mirror (I would stare at myself too if I were that cute - ha!)

Sweet snuggled baby.

Listening intently to Daddy talking to her.

Goodness, she seems like such a TINY little thing!

Water Fun

Trying to keep Mer busy with a new baby in the house isn't easy!  Yay Daddy for making pool time happen tonight!

Sweet sleepy newborn...ahhhh!
