Dancing in the Rain

We have had SO much rain for July in Texas.  I mean, it has rained for DAYS straight, flowers are blooming instead of wilting, our grass is super green, and everything is growing out of control!  But, that also means that we are getting BORED.  We are cooped up in the house because there is just nowhere to go with two little ones in the rain.  We'd all be soaking wet by the time we got loaded into and out of the car.  On one especially boring day, I told Mer go to get her rain boots, handed her an umbrella, and told her to get outside and play!  She was beside herself and couldn't believe she was being told to go splash in puddles and play with an umbrella!!

Little sister was NOT happy.  She was MAD that she couldn't go outside and play in the rain, too!

Flowers don't stand a chance in our yard - Meredith loves picking flowers, and makes me put them in water as soon as she comes in.  She has ALWAYS had a fascination with flowers!

Silly Girl!

I just died laughing when I walked in and found Libby Kate this morning!  She had somehow managed to pull her shirt up over her head...trying to take it off I guess??  I asked her, "Libby Kate!  What did you do?!" and she just started giggling!  She knew exactly what I was talking about!

Haha - Mer's face in the background!  She's saying, "Hey!  That's my Orphan shirt!  I wanted to wear that!" Orphan is what she calls Horton!

Bookworm

Libby Kate loves her accessories.  She brings us glasses all the time to put on her, and she really leaves them on until they fall off!  She makes us laugh so hard!!  She is VERY serious about her accessories, too.  Doesn't even crack a smile over wearing these glasses, so not like she's doing it to be funny!  Accessories are important business for her!

Celebrating Our Freedom

We headed to Haslet for our 4th of July celebration!  My two All American Beauties let me get a couple of pictures on the porch before we left!

Takes my breath away.  My sweet baby!

She's gorgeous.  And I'm not biased.

Our family of four! Mom took this picture...the outtakes to get this one semi-decent picture are AMAZING.  Amazing in a "mom, were you even looking through the view finder?" sort of way - ha!

This girl LOVES her FREEDOM!!  Running, running, running, all over the yard, tiring herself out!  She and Callie went to bed right after this :)  Perfect because then Steph and I got to eat dinner together, visit, AND watch the fireworks!

Beautiful famiy of three!!

Mom's traditional flag cake...YUM!

Paw Paw fitted Mer with hearing protectors and she was able to enjoy the "sparkles" without being afraid!

Brian and Kasey were in charge of the entertainment.  I have no clue what they spend every year...I never ask, and I never want to know!

Matching seeeee-stas!

It was a LATE night for us...like midnight before everyone was in bed!  I'm loving what an easy sleeper Libby Kate is though, and Mer is getting a little older and more flexible, so makes it easier to stay out later!  Sad Chris and Emily and Melissa and Kelly weren't there to join us, but it's also so nice to have some QT with the Shumakes!
