Summer Mornings

This morning I had planned on taking the girls to the park and then over to see Gigi...but at 9:45am neither of them were even out of bed yet!  It was after 11am before we got out of the house, and already really hot, so we just went to Gigi's for a while instead.

I'm trying to get Mer used to riding her bike.  She gets frustrated, especially when going up hills.  I think her tires were pretty low on air and she probably needs her seat raised some.  I'm hoping that will make it a little easier for her.

Libby Kate rides in style...a hat to shield her fair skinned face from the sun.

Gigi and Mer Mer taking selfies - ha!  I think Gigi remembered us...she didn't seem confused by us walking in and she commented that Mer's hair had gotten so long and Libby Kate had grown so much. She always comments on Libby's dark eyes, too!  The girls got a little wild, and I commented that I wished I had that much energy, and without skipping a beat Grandma chimed in, "oh, I bet you did at one time!"

On the way home I made Mer ride her bike around the block once.  She was hot and sweaty, but she survived!  At one point she got really mad and was leaning forward and pedaling as hard and fast as she could and I had to run to keep up.  Libby Kate thought that was hilarious and was squealing, "whooo hooo!" as I ran down the block pushing her in her car!

Oh, Little Libby...

Libby Kate took a late nap today after church, so around 4pm when I heard her waking up, I started dinner and thought I'd let her play in her crib until she started to fuss.  By 4:45 though, I was thinking she was awfully content in there, so I asked Brian to go check on her on the monitor for me.  He came back out to the kitchen and asked me what she was wearing when I put her down for a nap.  I thought for a second and told him a long sleeved onesie and pants, and asked why?  He laughed and walked back into our room...and this is what I saw....

Little stink had totally disrobed!  How on earth she got out of the onesie is beyond me...I don't even think Mer could get out of a onesie?!?  We watched her on the monitor for a few minutes as she tried to put the clothes back on, too!

I have been putting her in onesies at naptime for a while now because I feared her taking her diaper off before I got in there, and right after nap is always her big poop for the day!  Now I'm not really sure what I'll do???

This face looks so innocent!!!

Silly girl!  She is also big on taking her shoes off and putting them back on.  As soon as we get into the car, she'll take her shoes and socks off, then put her shoes back on without the socks.  The first time I realized she could do this was a day I was meeting Kalli for lunch last week.  I opened up her door and she had one shoe on the wrong foot...otherwise I'd never have realized she could get them back on!

Welcome, Fall!

This weekend Fall made its first appearance...and we are in LOVE!!  We had the windows open all day, and went running without feeling like we were trapped in a sauna!  Connor turned 3 this weekend and had a barnyard party...I think this was Libby Kate's first birthday party to go to as a walker??  I could be wrong...but seems like it was her first party!  She had FUN!

She loved the animals!!  She did come to me and reach up for me to carry her when she was done, but she sure did like the bunnies!  I think she just assumed the goats were dogs.

These three girls are getting SO big.  I love that they've grown up together...BFFs!

I'm not positive this is the same horse, but I need to go back and look at pictures, because we have been to four parties now with this petting zoo, and Mer rode the pony at all but one of them.  I wonder if it's the same pony or not!

Libby Kate did NOT love the pony.  AT ALL.  She grabbed my neck so tight and did not want any part of touching it.  The guy said once they get moving sometimes they're better, and she did settle down some.  I was mean and didn't just walk away when she seemed afraid...I knew she'd like it if she gave it a try...or she'd at least tolerate it long enough to get a picture, right?

Another first...first swing ride!!  Almost 16 months old, and first time on a swing...is she deprived and sheltered or what?!  I thought she was going to fall asleep in it.  She had a 30 minute car nap yesterday, and refused her normal afternoon nap.  It was going on 5 o'clock and she'd had 30 min of rest!

Family picture time!  This never happens!

It was super nice outside compared to the 100 degree temps recently, but still warm.  I think these little guys were ready to go inside!

Good Times, Good Times

We've been having GOOD times at our house.  Libby Kate has joined Mer in the dress up fun!  She loves to be dressed up, and loves to bring us things to put on her.  They entertain each other so well.  She adores having Mer put princess dresses on her, and is ever so patient as Mer clips bows into her hair.

A true Cinderella....missing one slipper!

Love how Mer strikes a pose anytime a camera comes out - ha!

This series of pics is so sweet to me - Libby Kate is SO patient and still for Mer while she dresses her.

This makes me laugh - Mer was getting on to Libby through gritted teeth - "Libby Kate!  Just stand still!  I want Mommy to get a picture of our matching bows!"

A rare picture with my baby...I'm looking a little rough at the end of the day and without make up, but she's so pretty, who's looking at me anyway?!

Mer went to dinner with my parents and John and "Rhiona" (Winona) last night at Spring Creek.  As I was putting her to bed, I was asking what she had for dinner, if she had a good time, etc.  She said yes, it was "good times, good times."  I died laughing, the way she said it was like an old person, but she wasn't trying to be funny!  She also told me she had a SECRET for me, but she couldn't tell me until she was in bed.  I asked her if Gamommy knew her secret and she said, "maybe she does, maybe she doesn't!"  Then I asked her if she was going to tell me her secret and she said, "maybe I will, maybe I won't!"  She has a funny way of saying things when she's acting silly, and it really is just so funny...and she knows it!  I had forgotten about her secret by the time I got her into bed, but she didn't.  "Mommy!  I have to tell you my secret now!"  She grabbed my face, and pulled me close, and whispered..."I had LEMONADE at dinner!  Hahaha!"  She thought she had really gotten away with something because Gamommy let her have (watered down) lemonade with her supper!  Ha!

I also think it's funny what she insisted on wearing to dinner with them.  She is obsessed with "chee-leaders" right now.  So much so, that she has finally decided she likes to wear tennis shoes...because that's what "chee-leaders" wear.  So last night, she wore her chee-leading outfit and her new hot pink (or steaming hot pink as she says) shoes!  We bought these back in May but they were too big, and she was adamant she wouldn't wear them...I'm kind of excited that she's finally decided to wear them, just as they actually fit her, too!

Sunday Sweeties

It's crazy to me that summer is almost over!  This morning after church I tried to get a picture of the girls together.  I love red sandals.  I love matching sisters.  I love pictures.  But today, there was no getting that great picture of sweet sisters!!  Libby does NOT cooperate with the camera.  She avoids eye contact at all costs, refuses to look at me or even face me, and makes every face except a smile.  Mer was not in a great mood, and said it was "too bright" and she couldn't see.

Mer appeased me with this one...and then was gone!

I spent the next 20 minutes trying to get Libby Kate to look at me!

And when she DID look at me, this was the face she made!  Ha!

So sweet!!

She's really just too BUSY for taking a silly picture!
